Donald J. Niese, age 83 years, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at The Kathy Hospice. Don was born on February 24, 1934 in Milwaukee to John and Erna (nee Koltermann) Niese. He was a graduate of Rufus King High School Class of “52”, and joined the US Navy in 1955. On June 13, 1959 Don married Leilani Hein.
Donald is survived by his wife Leilani; children Stephen and JulieAnn (John) Plank; grandchildren; Allex, Evvan and Olliver; brothers Roger (Barb) Niese and Tom (Pat) Niese, sister Lois (John) Lenz, sisters-in-law; Carol (Tom) Fabitz and Judith (Joe) Conway. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Don enjoyed fishing, watching football and baseball. He always made people laugh with his good sense of humor. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Phillip Funeral Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend 53095) with Rev. Jonathan Vierkant presiding. The Visitation will be on Thursday, November 9th from 4-6 pm. Final place of rest will be at Washington County Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the friends from St. Andrew Lutheran Church and the caregivers for all their care and support they gave to Don and his family; and also to Tom and Jenny Engel and Don and Cheryl Liebentrau for all their support.
Memorials to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, The Cancer Society, or American Heart Association are appreciated.
